LOT 68

Rolex Oyster Cosmograph, Paul Newman Panda model, ref. 6265, case no. 2’849’238, circa 1971. A very fine and extremely rare Stainless-Steel chronograph wristwatch with Paul Newman Panda dial and bracelet.

Kept in a safe for the last 20 plus years, this extremely rare reference 6265 ‘Paul Newman Panda’ has been consigned by the family of the original owner and is entirely fresh to the market. Boasting one of the most appreciated Paul Newman dial versions ever produced, not only does this timepiece impress as one of the ‘holy grails’ of Daytona collecting, but it further amazes with its excellent condition. The discovery of a previously unknown Rolex ‘Paul Newman’ Cosmograph always creates a frisson of excitement amongst both watch collectors and those who pursue the very best world-class works of art.

LOT 96

Patek Philippe. Made for the Sultanate of Oman signed Patek Philippe, Nautilus ‘Khanjar’, Ref. 3700/1, movement no. 1’304’895, case no. 536’186, manufactured in 1978. An exceptionally rare and fine Stainless Steel automatic wristwatch with date and early-type.

For the first time at auction, this hitherto unknown and entirely fresh to the market, steel reference 3700/1 with Oman ‘Khanjar’ dial. Dating from 1978, it is an early example from only the second year of Nautilus production, exhibiting some rare features exclusively found on such pieces.

This highly important new discovery brings the total to only three confirmed examples of the Nautilus 3700/1 in stainless steel made to special order for the Royal household of the Sultanate of Oman. Among the most desired and collectible of all Nautilus models, it is distinguished by the national emblem of Oman, the Khanjar dagger in a sheath superimposed upon two crossed swords, to the lower half of the dial.

LOT 110

Patek Philippe Ref. 3974r, movement no. 1’906’091, case no. 2’962’726, movement manufactured in 1994, encased and sold in 2000. An extremely fine, rare and important 18K pink gold automatic minute repeating Perpetual Calendar wristwatch with phases of the Moon, additional white Roman dial, regular dial, case back, original certificate and box.

This endangered species strap is shown for display purposes only and is not for sale. The watch will be supplied with a calf leather strap.

Undoubtedly one of the most visually arresting references 3974 ever to be offered at auction, the present watch has been consigned by an important private collector. Carefully looked after as a cherished highlight of the owner’s collection it has not been seen on the open market since it was acquired over 13 years ago.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, “Paul Newman”, Ref. 6239, case no. 2’056’763, circa 1969. A very fine and extremely rare 18K Gold chronograph wristwatch with Champagne “Paul Newman” dial, certificate and box signed Rolex. This endangered species strap is shown for display purposes only and is not for sale. The watch will be supplied with a calf leather strap.

Not only incredibly good looking and superbly preserved in exceptional condition, this privately consigned 18K gold ‘Paul Newman’ reference 6239 has, to the best of our knowledge, never been offered at international auction before. Its rarity is further enhanced by the presence of the original Guarantee issued by the celebrated Orologeria Pisa in Milan in 1972.
