Important Watches by Sotheby’s

We are incredibly excited to announce you an exceptional Important Watches auction by Sotheby’s, on June 15th, the auction will take place in New York.

Sotheby’s New York is thrilled to offer an impressive selection of timepieces in our upcoming Important Watches live auction which will take place on 15 June. We are honored to showcase exceptional collections from numerous private collectors including part I of The X Collection, a comprehensive and prolific curation of over 170 wristwatches amassed by a single owner. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, this collection brings us over 50 Royal Oak models in never worn, museum quality condition, and largely complete with box and papers.

The sale is also led by a superb Rolex Paul Newman Daytona, John Player Special, Reference 6241, an extremely rare and well preserved yellow gold chronograph wristwatch, 1969. We are honored to offer this timepiece from the family of the original owner, who purchased the watch locally in New York City. The piece remains as one of the most well preserved examples to come to market, and is complete with its original certificate.

Other vintage marvels include two rare and exceptional F.P. Journe wristwatches, the Tourbillon Souverain à Remontoir d’Egalite, and the Octa Chronographe, both fitted with early brass movements. We are also thrilled to offer not one, but two rare and fine Patek Philippe, reference 1463 models; one cased in stainless steel and dressed with Breguet numerals, and another cased in yellow gold and retailed by Tiffany & Co.

A tour de force of complicated modern Patek Philippe will also be on offer including a rare Reference 3970P, dressed with a rare custom Breguet dial, and a full breadth of complications retailed by Tiffany & Co. Of note and fancy is a Rolex, reference 116595 Daytona ‘Rainbow’, a pink gold, diamond and multi-colored sapphire-set chronograph wristwatch, Circa 2018.
