Change for the better for Spazzapnea

According to the United Nations environment program, more than 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into the sea every year. It’s the equivalent of a garbage truck per minute.
ONU estimates that 80% of ocean litter is plastic and the damage to the marine ecosystem is $ 8 billion.
For some experts, by the 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans and 99% of all seabirds will eat plastic.

It’s time to change the destiny of the planet, before it’s too late!

Trough the global project “Change for the better” ORIS, certified by Climate Partner, supports and collaborates with important associations for the protection and conservation of the sea.
Today ORIS is proud to announce new partnership with Spazzapnea, association that borns from the desire to guarantee long life to our seas.
With the mission “Fondali puliti” the event is concretely committed to protect one of the most important parts of our planet.
It’s a real competition which the participants divided in teams are transformed into real “sea sweepers”
and at the end of the waste fishing competition the analysis and the weight of the materials is carried out.
Once the classification has been drawn up, let’s proceed with the award ceremony.
The Spazzapnea fourth edition will take place on May 28th in Genova, Palermo, Bari, Capri, Venezia e Marina di Pisa.

To mark the beginning of this environmental commitment, ORIS presented in 2020 a beautiful diver’s watch Aquis Date Upcycle, with high performances and with a recycled PET plastic dial.
In addition to show how plastic can be recycled and then reconditioned to become a luxury watchmaking work of art, the idea behind the watch is to encourage people from all over the world to participate in cleaning up the seas.
