INTERVIEW WITH DAVID TORO: Trusted Dealer of Mondani Web and one of the Most Renowned Watch Dealers in Europe

Giorgia Mondani interviews David Toro, Trusted Dealer of Mondani Web based in Madrid.


1. David, when did you start the watch business and how could you build such a big company?

I started from very young and already In 1992 I was very excited and interested in Rolex Sport models and in some Omega Moon but during that time I was perceiving that watches as unaffordable for me because of their high prices and afterwards bit by bit… i grew.
I still remember my first watch : an 14060 I was seeing it as my one and only for life ๐Ÿ˜‚ I changed it for an 16610 – a better model for that times and this one was followed by an 16710 that joined my collection… Some years later I was owning 6-7 Rolex and I began thinking seriously about entering with dedication into the World of Watches. During 7-8 years I was collating trading watches with my second job as a professional sportsman and only in 2004 I jumped into the idea of transforming my passion for watches into an established official company. 2004-2010 were years of great learning for me and 2011-2012 the most interesting and adventurous period of time regarding planting special events , Shows , travels around the whole world ๐ŸŒŽ. From these years to the present everything has been a result of formality and trust with all my Proโ€™ and Private clients. For me thatโ€™s the main secret in taking hold in this sector.


2. How many watches does David Toro Watches have in stock now?

We work with a lot of dealers and watches around the World but I can surely affirm we move about 100 pieces everyday and this besides the private collection you will discover some day ๐Ÿ˜‚. But Caution ! I donโ€™t want you to assume I am rich ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚


3. How did social medias change the way of selling watches ?

In the present moment and more than ever, with this actual pandemic, social medias became fundamental for doing business and it is the biggest flow to assure you are worldwide recognizable. Instagram in particular today represents a real business card.


4. How is Mondani Web helping you with make your international reputation even stronger?

I began this Business with them and I think they are an unique Name in this Branch
I am very loyal to my family and I consider them part of it


5. How many watches do you have in your hands every day?

Nowadays, with all apps and the Mondani groups I even forgot ๐Ÿ˜‚ Maybe 200 a day ?
But in our shops about 10 pieces every day for sales or other deals

6.ย  Give some tips to young collectors who approach the world of luxury watchesโ€ฆ

The first and most important think for them is to learn to enjoy their watches and not thinking about the end price.
We have to distinguish between a Collector and a watches dealer . The collector will always buy but not always sell. When a collector begins to sell he is not a Collector anymore he becomes what I call an โ€œ opportunist โ€œ.
Only the real dealers are for trading watches (buy/sell) and this is a big Market we have to try to control.
